{"id":619412,"date":"2026-06-16T00:05:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T00:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=619412"},"modified":"2026-06-16T00:05:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T00:05:00","slug":"indias-solar-demand-set-for-22-annual-growth-through-2035-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=619412","title":{"rendered":"India&#8217;s Solar Demand Set For 22% Annual Growth Through 2035"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">India&#8217;s Solar Demand Set For 22% Annual Growth Through 2035<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><em>Submitted by Tsvetana Paraskova of <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Indias-Solar-Capacity-Set-for-22-Annual-Growth-Through-2035.html\">OilPrice.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">India\u2019s solar capacity is set to surge by 22% each year by 2035 as the data center boom will drive increased power consumption, a new report by Nuvama showed on Monday. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\"><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/solar%20field%20india.jpg?itok=qTwdQDyW\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/solar%20field%20india.jpg?itok=qTwdQDyW\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"9ae05fde-07e8-4a65-9ac7-5ac0029e1e4a\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"375\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/solar%20field%20india.jpg?itok=qTwdQDyW\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The consultancy estimates that India\u2019s total power demand will rise by 6% every year over the next decade, \u201cdriven by economic growth, rising urbanisation, manufacturing expansion and increasing electrification across sectors,\u201d according to the report cited by Indian news outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aninews.in\/news\/business\/indias-solar-demand-projected-to-surge-at-22-cagr-by-fy35-on-massive-data-center-boom20260615110955\/\">ANI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Solar growth will vastly outpace overall power demand as power-intensive data centers will drive 22% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in solar energy capacity from 2026 to 2035, the report found.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Our base case suggests green hydrogen and data centre capacity shall add another 251GW solar capacity, while it is 406GW capacity in the bull case scenario<\/strong>,\u201d Nuvama analysts said in the report.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cGiven solar capacity expansion in our base case, the share of solar shall rise from 28% in FY26 to 61% by FY35 and to 65% in the bull case,\u201d<\/strong> they added.<\/p>\n<p>India expects to nearly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/India-Unveils-Ambitious-Plan-to-Quadruple-Solar-Power-by-2035.html\">quadruple its solar power<\/a>\u00a0capacity and triple wind power-generating assets within ten years, according to the new Generation Adequacy Plan published by the country\u2019s Central Electricity Authority earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>India projects to have a total of 509 gigawatts (GW) of solar power capacity installed by the end of the 2035-2036 fiscal year, up from 140 GW installed solar PV capacity as of January 2026.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe installed generation capacity projection in 2035-36 shows that the country is moving toward a strong transition to non-fossil energy.
