The Naval Observatory residence is now home to more than Vice President JD Vance and his family.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that chickens have come to roost at the residence of the VP on the grounds of the United States Naval Observatory, in Washington, D.C. The new coop, built by a family-owned business founded by Matt and Gnon DuBoise, was completed last month and now houses dozens of chicks and chickens, according to a report by The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n

Vice President JD Vance put up a chicken coup outside the VP\u2019s residence. A spokesperson tells me he will tend to the chickens. His kids already named the chicks. \u201cThe coop, which features a round turret and faux slate roof, was donated by Carolina Coops, a North Carolina company that advertises \u2018premium\u201d coops that have amassed a social media following. The coop was custom-built for the residence and completed May 29, the company\u2019s owner and founder said,\u201d according to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe coop was built without taxpayer money, according to a person familiar with the project who spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly. The residence hosted a family event over the weekend where local 4-H students taught other kids about the newly installed coup, the person said,\u201d the AP reported.<\/p>\n

Matt Dubois started the business in Durham in 2009. He scavenged materials to build his first coop as a side hustle.<\/p>\n
