The next round of criticism from those hating on President Donald Trump\u2019s planned UFC event at the White House focused on the custom outfits to be worn by the \u201cOctagon girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

The iconic ring girls, who have been a traditional part of the mixed martial arts events, will be sporting more patriotic costumes for the Freedom 250 fight set for Sunday, June 14, which is also Trump\u2019s 80th birthday. Mixed reactions greeted the unveiling of the new outfits, with many having meltdowns over what they called \u201ctacky\u201d and \u201cover the top.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe inspiration was born from the intersection of sport, spectacle, and celebration,\u201d the costume designer, Marina Toybina, told Maxim. \u201cWorking closely with UFC, we wanted to create looks that honored both the energy of the brand and the significance of the 250th anniversary celebration. The goal was to blend strength, athleticism, glamour and American heritage into a wardrobe language that felt sophisticated, powerful, and unmistakably iconic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn pictures released by the UFC, ring girls Chrissy Blair and Red Dela Cruz modeled the new outfits, showing off the patriotic look, less than one week out from the event,\u201d the Daily Mail reported. \u201cIn one of the images, Blair is seen wearing a striped patterned skirt, while Dela Cruz stands beside her in a short dress which boasted themes of the American flag. The outfits will be worn by the girls during the ceremonial weigh-ins and on fight night on the White House South Lawn.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the images created an uproar on social media.<\/p>\n
