{"id":615333,"date":"2026-06-09T02:10:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T02:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=615333"},"modified":"2026-06-09T02:10:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T02:10:00","slug":"4-in-10-american-adults-report-having-mental-health-problems-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=615333","title":{"rendered":"4 In 10 American Adults Report Having &#8216;Mental Health&#8217; Problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">4 In 10 American Adults Report Having &#8216;Mental Health&#8217; Problems<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>Over the past few years, <strong>a lot of progress has been made in accepting and understanding\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/8066\/mental-health-worldwide\/\">mental health problem<\/a>s. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having long been seen as a sign of weakness, mental health issues in their many varieties and severities have become much less of a taboo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/35274\/self-reported-prevalence-of-mental-health-problems\/\">As Statista&#8217;s Valentine Fourreau notes,<\/a><strong>\u00a0the pandemic, which left many people feel isolated, powerless or overwhelmed, accelerated that trend,<\/strong> as it not only caused a spike in symptoms of anxiety or depression, but also led more people to open up about their problems.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/insights\/consumer\/\">Statista survey<\/a>\u00a0from 2025-2026, <strong>the prevalence of self-reported mental health problems varies greatly across countries,<\/strong> suggesting that people in some countries,<em> e.g. China or Japan, may be more hesitant to open up about mental health or simply less likely to identify certain problems as mental health issues<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/35274\/self-reported-prevalence-of-mental-health-problems\/\" title=\"Infographic: Which Countries Report the Most Mental Health Problems? | Statista\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Infographic: Which Countries Report the Most Mental Health Problems? | Statista\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.statcdn.com\/Infographic\/images\/normal\/35274.jpeg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>You will find more infographics at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chartoftheday\/\">Statista<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>As Statista&#8217;s chart shows, <strong>more than 4 in 10 U.S. adults reported that they experienced symptoms of mental health problems<\/strong>, such as stress, anxiety or depression in the 12 months preceding the survey, making an open discourse about mental health issues all the more important.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, we give the last word to AOC, who exclaimed over the weekend that <em><strong>&#8220;we are not the crazy ones.
