A former ESPN anchor claimed President Donald Trump hates black people as she made the head-scratching assertion that voters can\u2019t disqualify Graham Platner over his Nazi tattoo as long as Trump is in the White House.<\/p>\n

Former SportsCenter anchor Cari Champion argued that allowing Trump to be president is enough to prove that Platner\u2019s \u201cbaggage\u201d can be overlooked as the Maine Democratic candidate bids for the Senate. She insisted that she was not excusing the behavior of the scandal-ridden Platner, who has asserted ignorance about the Nazi symbol tattooed on his chest.<\/p>\n

Champion\u2019s baffling claim came during an exchange with paneist Arthur Aidala on CNN\u2019s \u201cTable for Five\u201d as they discussed the scandals surrounding Platner, whose former girlfriends came out in a New York Times report alleging disturbing behavior in the past, and the controversies continued to pile up for the Democrat.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bar is in hell. We have allowed this president to come in, and this blatant corruption, and we see it,\u201d Champion argued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the way, I am not excusing this man\u2019s behavior in any form or fashion,\u201d she insisted. \u201cThis just happens to be a candidate that has baggage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCari, he has an anti-Semitic tattoo on his chest. That should be automatic disqualification, period,\u201d Aidala interjected.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not excusing this man\u2019s behavior, but what I am telling you is you cannot say that with this president in office,\u201d Champion argued.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, \u2018And I hate black people.\u2019 I feel like this president is saying, \u2018I hate black people,\u2019 and we\u2019re done.\u201d Champion exclaimed, clapping her hands together to emphasize her point.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he doesn\u2019t have a tattoo that says it,\u201d Aidala said in a reality check.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just has all the power of the government. He\u2019s rolling back \u2014 he\u2019s rolling back civil rights,\u201d she shot back as host Abby Philip jumped in.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou keep saying you\u2019re not excusing him, but what\u2019s happening is that he is being excused,\u201d she contended, going on to recount the rolling out of scandals surrounding Platner.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Abby, but are we excusing it?\u201d Champion asked.\u00a0 \u201cAre we excusing it? Or are we saying, look, if this is this, if this guy is in the lead \u2014 are we excusing it? No, we\u2019re not. But if the people in Maine are saying, \u2018This is our guy, this is who we want,\u2019 it\u2019s because of the situation we live in right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
