{"id":614483,"date":"2026-06-07T11:35:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T11:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=614483"},"modified":"2026-06-07T11:35:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T11:35:00","slug":"most-teens-arent-going-to-social-media-for-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=614483","title":{"rendered":"Most Teens Aren&#8217;t Going To Social Media For Politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Most Teens Aren&#8217;t Going To Social Media For Politics<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><strong>Teens turn to social media for multiple purposes:<\/strong> to catch up with friends, for entertainment and to connect with others over similar interests.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/36139\/why-us-teens-use-tiktok-instagram-and-snapchat\/\">However, as Statista&#8217;s Anna Fleck reports<\/a> <strong>a possible misconception, however, is that many are going to platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/6077\/tiktok\/?srsltid=AfmBOoptnw4vBp72VJ2IgjZC2cGUEcPUAhGTG7PplzeVmZJbHqdC8tFy\">TikTok<\/a>\u00a0for politics.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to a recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/internet\/2026\/04\/15\/teens-experiences-on-tiktok-instagram-and-snapchat\/\">survey<\/a>\u00a0of 1,458 teenagers in the United States, conducted between September 25 and October 9, under one in three respondents said that keeping up with politics or political issues was a main personal draw towards each of the respective\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/1164\/social-networks\/?srsltid=AfmBOooJQ91PB89UhLIjCIV0NEmaLfmewd-8pLBzBeHjlgd0zXDPyPgD\">social media<\/a>\u00a0platforms.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/36139\/why-us-teens-use-tiktok-instagram-and-snapchat\/\" title=\"Infographic: Most Teens Aren&apos;t Going to Social Media for Politics | Statista\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Infographic: Most Teens Aren&apos;t Going to Social Media for Politics | Statista\" height=\"499\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.statcdn.com\/Infographic\/images\/normal\/36139.jpeg\" width=\"499\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>You will find more infographics at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chartoftheday\/\">Statista<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>While most teens said that politics was not one of the main reasons for using the apps, <strong>U.S. teens were most likely to turn to TikTok and Instagram for political content (29 percent and 28 percent, respectively, said they would), followed by Snapchat (19 percent). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More popular reasons to use TikTok were entertainment (96 percent) and to know what\u2019s going on with family and friends (86 percent).<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to social media platforms <strong>as a source for news, then TikTok was also more commonly chosen over the other two. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Still, under half of respondents (45 percent) picked it as a main reason for using the platform, followed by 39 percent for Instagram and 26 percent for Snapchat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pew analysts found that Black teens were more likely than white and Hispanic teens to turn to TikTok for news, <\/strong>product recommendations and keeping up with athletes or celebrities and connecting with others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meanwhile, white teens on Snapchat were most likely to message people every day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>      <span class=\"field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden\"><a title=\"View user profile.\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/users\/tyler-durden\" lang=\"\" class=\"username\" xml:lang=\"\">Tyler Durden<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden\">Sun, 06\/07\/2026 &#8211; 07:35<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.statcdn.com\/Infographic\/images\/normal\/36139.jpeg\" title=\"Most Teens Aren&apos;t Going To Social Media For Politics\" \/><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most Teens Aren&#8217;t Going To Social Media For Politics Teens turn to social media for multiple purposes: to catch up with friends, for entertainment and to connect with others over similar interests.
