Billionaires aren\u2019t the only ones making an exodus from the blue states to more friendly red locales as one of the NFL\u2019s most storied franchises is set to join them.<\/p>\n

In a Friday announcement, the Chicago Bears said that the organization is moving forward with a plan to abandon its longtime home in the Windy City for the friendlier confines of Indiana, a stinging rebuke of state and local Democrat leadership in Illinois.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday, the Chicago Bears Board of Directors met and voted to advance our stadium development project in Hammond, Indiana, with the exact site to be selected. We believe a world-class stadium project in Hammond will transform the region, connecting Northwest Indiana to the South Side of Chicago through the Loop and across neighborhoods and suburbs stretching north of the city. It will bring Chicagoland together and deliver new opportunities to its residents and businesses,\u201d read the statement from Bears Chairman George H. McCaskey and President & CEO Kevin Warren.<\/p>\n

The announcement caps off what have been fruitless negotiations between Illinois Democrats and the NFL team, which has now set its sights on a brand new stadium in Hammond, Ind., which is about 25 miles from Chicago, abandoning its longtime home at Soldier Field, where the team has played since 1971.<\/p>\n

Indiana Republicans were quick to warmly welcome the Bears, with Gov. Mike Braun expressing his commitment to \u201cbuilding a partnership as strong as the \u201985 Bears defense,\u201d referring to the legendary bone-crushing bunch that steamrolled all opponents on the way to the team\u2019s lone Super Bowl title.<\/p>\n

The former teacher\u2019s union organizer and plus-sized billionaire Gov. JB Pritzker have proven to be one helluva team who have done to Chicago what the 85 Bears D did to opposing offenses.<\/p>\n
