Far-left extremists tried boxing in the federal vehicle, but the agents drove through them.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vldtjNaqJh\">pic.twitter.com\/vldtjNaqJh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andy Ngo (@MrAndyNgo) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MrAndyNgo\/status\/1977240354182381770?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 12, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As seen in the video, after the agents threw her in their silver van, they tried to drive off, only to be blocked by an SUV. After the SUV owner refused to move, the agents decided to just plow past the vehicle, damaging its rear bumper.<\/p>\n<p>According to WGN, Brockman was eventually released with no charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today, a WGN-TV creative services employee was detained by ICE,\u201d the station <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizpacreview.com\/2025\/10\/14\/chicago-tv-producer-finds-herself-face-down-on-the-pavement-after-allegedly-throwing-objects-at-border-patrols-car-1592401\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cShe has since been released, and no charges were filed against her. Out of respect for her privacy, we will have no further statements about this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Months later, Brockman\u00a0filed a $10 million personal injury claim against the federal government on Tuesday as per the \u201csevere emotional distress\u201d she allegedly suffered because of the incident that she\u2019d reportedly caused.<\/p>\n<p>The suit was filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act and specifically targets U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The act \u201callows plaintiffs to seek compensation from the United States for wrongs committed by federal employees,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2026\/06\/02\/debbie-brockman-wgn-immigration-detention\/?mrfcid=202606036a2071e84cbe5438599c0af8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Tribune<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A press release published by Brockman\u2019s attorney, Brad Thomson, says \u201cfederal agents accosted her, tackling her and violently throwing her to the ground, battering her and exposing her buttocks, before handcuffing her and throwing her into a van,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/2026\/06\/02\/ex-wgn-staffer-who-was-violently-thrown-to-ground-held-by-feds-files-10-million-claim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Block Club Chicago<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The release adds that federal immigration agents knew \u201csevere emotional distress was certain\u201d when they detained Brockman.<\/p>\n<p>The suit itself alleges that she suffered \u201cheadaches, pain, tenderness, bruises, abrasions, contusion, nausea\u201d from being detained, not to mention ongoing \u201cmental and emotional pain and anxiety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s horrific that a government agency supposedly established to keep America safe is terrorizing communities, killing people, and violently targeting individuals they assume are not citizens,\u201d Brockman said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not safe with these armed, masked agents lurking in our neighborhoods showing little to no regard towards the lives of the people who live here,\u201d she continued, adding that her \u201cassault has profoundly impacted my life on a day-to-day basis, leaving me uncertain of my future, my neighbors\u2019 futures, and quite frankly the future of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an emailed statement to the Tribune, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson fiercely defended Brockman\u2019s October detention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe facts of the case have not changed,\u201d they said. \u201cDeborah Brockman, a U.S. citizen, threw objects at a Border Patrol car, and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is about the same thing that then-spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin wrote back in October:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Here\u2019s what happened:<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CBP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CBP<\/a> agents were conducting immigration enforcement operations when several violent agitators used vehicles to block in agents to impede &amp; assault federal officers. These attacks highlight the dangers our law enforcement officers face daily\u2014all while receiving no pay thanks to the Democrats\u2019 government shutdown,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Brockman no longer works at WGN. She was let go during the February layoffs.
