Time magazine is being slammed by social media users over its cover story<\/a> on controversial Democratic senatorial candidate Graham Platner, a sordid character who, among other things, sported a \u201cNazi\u201d tattoo.<\/p>\n

If the Maine oyster farmer is to unseat longtime incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins, he is going to have to overcome his unseemly past statements and character issues, including trashing the police, vulgar sexual takes, and mockery of a wounded U.S. soldier and Purple Heart recipient.<\/p>\n

The publication is glossing over Platner\u2019s ugly behavior to portray him as the Democrats\u2019 great white hope, a hero who the party is willing to overlook his boatload of negatives because he\u2019s a \u201cfighter\u201d who could help them retake control of the Senate.<\/p>\n

\u201cTIME\u2019s new cover: Even in this antiestablishment political moment, Graham Platner\u2019s rise has been remarkable. His candidacy is forcing the party to come to terms with what it\u2019s willing to risk in exchange for a fighter,\u201d the publication said in an X post featuring a tough and tumble image of the candidate with the caption \u201cParty Crasher.\u201d<\/p>\n

One disturbing aspect of Platner\u2019s past that he isn\u2019t going to be able to escape is the tattoo which bears a striking resemblance to a Totenkopf, a death\u2019s head symbol used by Adolf Hitler\u2019s Schutzstaffel (SS) killers.<\/p>\n

Does Time Nazi the hypocrisy after the media\u2019s incessant vilification of President Donald J. Trump and his supporters as Nazis?<\/p>\n

X users were quick to point out the double standard.<\/p>\n

So Donald Trump was Hitler, and all of us nazis, for a rally at Madison Square Garden. But the far left candidate with a Nazi tattoo is celebrated.<\/p>\n

The author who penned the hagiographic piece says she joined Platner for three days in April as he stumped for voters, describing him as \u201ccarrying enough baggage to sink an oyster boat: a Nazi tattoo, a DUI from a post-military period of heavy drinking, and a trove of Reddit posts that spewed hostility in almost every direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, Platner is a serious threat to Collins with his appeal to Maine voters as a rugged everyman, even if he may be a closet Nazi. And Time appears to be going full Goebbels to promote his candidacy.<\/p>\n
