{"id":605973,"date":"2026-05-22T13:45:59","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T13:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=605973"},"modified":"2026-05-22T13:45:59","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T13:45:59","slug":"mn-food-aid-fraud-mastermind-slapped-with-stunning-40-year-prison-sentence-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=605973","title":{"rendered":"MN food aid fraud \u2018mastermind\u2019 slapped with stunning 40 year prison sentence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/americanwirenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/gw-amy-bock-sg-ilhan-omar-1200x630.jpg\" class=\"attachment-facebook size-facebook wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/div>\n<p>The Ilhan Omar-linked \u201cmastermind\u201d behind a massive fraud scheme in Minnesota has been sentenced to almost 42 full years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Aimee Bock, the 45-year-old founder of Feeding Our Future, received a 500-month sentence on Thursday, a year after she was convicted of wire fraud and bribery, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/05\/21\/us\/minnesota-social-service-programs-fraud-charges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">After <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBI?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FBI<\/a> investigation \u2013 the mastermind behind the Feeding our Future scandal in Minnesota defrauding public COVID funds of over $250 million was just sentenced to 41.5 years in prison <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FLjtGvyp69\">pic.twitter.com\/FLjtGvyp69<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FBI Director Kash Patel (@FBIDirectorKash) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBIDirectorKash\/status\/2057501486477680854?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 21, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bock and her convicted co-defendant, Salim Said, gained access to hundreds of millions of dollars using the Feeding Our Future nonprofit and then reportedly spent nearly all of that money on themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsing fake meal counts, doctored attendance records, and fabricated invoices, the perpetrators \u2026 claimed to be serving thousands of meals a day, seven days a week, to underprivileged children,\u201d journalists Ryan Thorpe and Christopher Rufo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/article\/minnesota-welfare-fraud-somalia-al-shabaab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That allowed access to nearly $200 million in federal funding that they then allegedly turned around and misused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBock used the ill-gotten funds to buy opulent cars, including a Porsche Panamera, which range in price from around $110,000 to over $230,000, as well as some 60 laptops, iPads and iPhones, a diamond necklace, bracelet and earrings and designer handbags,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/21\/us-news\/aimee-bock-minnesota-feeding-our-future-fraudster-sentenced-41-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Said reportedly blew his portion of the money on a\u00a0$2 million Minneapolis mansion and a $9,000-a-month shopping habit at Nordstrom.<\/p>\n<p>With both Bock and Said having been convicted, and Bock (and soon Said) off to prison, the public is now demanding that Rep. Ilhan Omar be immediately prosecuted next.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Minnesota scammer and whistleblower Aimee Bock is sentenced to 41 years in prison and has to pay $43 million in restitution. When is Ilhan Omar next? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/d5VYBf1jAr\">pic.twitter.com\/d5VYBf1jAr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 DeVory Darkins (@devorydarkins) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/devorydarkins\/status\/2057522734704304574?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 21, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bock has herself already suggested that Omar knew all about the fraud that she and Said were committing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI struggle to believe that [Omar] wouldn\u2019t have known,\u201d she told the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/16\/us-news\/minnesota-rep-ilhan-omar-knew-about-250m-covid-meal-fraud-mastermind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Post<\/a> during a jailhouse interview recorded last week.<\/p>\n<p>During her trial, the congresswoman\u2019s name showed up at least six times in email and text message exhibits.\u00a0Bock told the Post that the emails and text messages were about obtaining help with waivers.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Omar played a key role in the passage of the MEALS Act, which greatly reduced school-meal requirements during the COVID pandemic. But to take advantage of these reduced requirements and reduced oversight, nonprofits had to apply for waivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOmar would personally step in whenever those waivers ran out, allowing the rampant fraud to continue, Bock alleged,\u201d according to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors and auditors have alleged that it was precisely because of the MEALS Act that fraud subsequently exploded in Minnesota.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The Minnesota fraud ring tied to Feeding Our Future, the $250M child nutrition case, was described by prosecutors and auditors as a COVID-era scheme that expanded as emergency rules and waivers loosened oversight.<\/p>\n<p>In California during COVID, the state allowed pre-licensing\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/B54i7WRjh4\">pic.twitter.com\/B54i7WRjh4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Amy Reichert (@amyforsandiego) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amyforsandiego\/status\/2017239032535937441?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 30, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Said, the co-owner of the Safari Restaurant, wasn\u2019t just one of the participants in the fraud. He was also a friend of Omar, it appears.<\/p>\n<p>The Post notes that, as recently as 2020, Omar was seen on video at the restaurant praising the very welfare program that Said and Bock were using to line their pockets.<\/p>\n<p>The Post further notes that a former Omar campaign official, left-wing activist Guhaad Hashi Said, pleaded guilty last year to running a fake food site called Advance Youth Athletic Development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[H]e falsely claimed to serve 5,000 meals a day and pocketed $3.2 million out of the food program,\u201d according to the Post. \u201cSaid worked on Omar\u2019s 2018 and 2020 campaigns as an \u2018enforcer\u2019 who oversaw aggressive voter mobilization in the Somali community.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Former \u2018enforcer\u2019 for Ilhan Omar pleads guilty in Feeding Our Future fraud scheme<\/p>\n<p>Guhaad Hashi Said is now the 52nd defendant to plead guilty for his role in the Feeding Our Future fraudulent child nutrition meals scheme. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/M2hCIdCtLL\">pic.twitter.com\/M2hCIdCtLL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alpha News (@AlphaNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlphaNews\/status\/1955635156896600109?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 13, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And then in 2021, when the Feeding Our Future program was flagged by Minnesota\u2019s Department of Education (MDE) for possible fraud, Omar\u2019s top aide, Deputy District Director Ali Isse, defended the program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m tired of the MDE thing.
