{"id":605901,"date":"2026-05-22T11:59:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T11:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=605901"},"modified":"2026-05-22T11:59:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T11:59:15","slug":"remove-thune-rinos-block-reconciliation-bill-senators-sent-home-without-funding-dhs-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=605901","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Remove Thune!\u2019 RINOs block reconciliation bill, senators sent home without funding DHS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/americanwirenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/sg-john-thune-1200x630.jpg\" class=\"attachment-facebook size-facebook wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Anger is brewing after Senate Majority Leader John Thune adjourned the Senate on Thursday without moving forward on a budget reconciliation bill that would have fully funded the Department of Homeland Security.<\/p>\n<p>Thune told reporters afterward that the White House must first address his colleagues\u2019 concerns about the Trump administration\u2019s anti-weaponization fund before he moves forward with reconciliation, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenew\/senate\/5890532-senate-republicans-trump-fund-blanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the administration announced the creation of a $1.7+ billion anti-weaponization fund to be used to compensate those who were mistreated by the former Biden administration, including Jan. 6 participants.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement irritated several fuddy-duddy senators, including Thom Tillis and Mitch McConnell:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">GOP Senator Thom Tillis on Trump\u2019s proposed \u201cAnti-Weaponization\u201d fund: \u201cI think it\u2019s stupid on stilts. When you take money from me to give to a purpose I vehemently disagree with, that\u2019s tyranny.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PLa2vvxzDN\">pic.twitter.com\/PLa2vvxzDN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TheBlaze (@theblaze) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/theblaze\/status\/2057584039813406877?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 21, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSo the nation\u2019s top law enforcement official is asking for a slush fund to pay people who assault cops?\u201d McConnell said in a statement, borrowing his talking points straight from the Democratic Party. \u201cUtterly stupid, morally wrong \u2013 take your pick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Making matters worse, both Tillis and McConnell previously eagerly voted in favor of a gigantic fund for senators who were targeted by the Biden administration\u2019s lawfare.<\/p>\n<p>Evidently, both senators are OK with compensating elected officials who were targeted by lawfare, but not everyday citizens who were also targeted.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind, this latest development comes after congressional Republicans already took a shot at President Donald Trump by removing funding for his desired ballroom from the reconciliation bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a blow to the White House, Senate Republicans will remove a $1 billion Secret Service funding request that would help President Donald Trump\u2019s ballroom project from their immigration enforcement funding bill amid internal objections,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/05\/20\/ballroom-security-funding-reconciliation-00930193\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a> reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Q: \u201cThe $1 billion for ballroom\u2014is that going to make it through the Byrd bath?\u201d<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LeaderJohnThune?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LeaderJohnThune<\/a>: \u201cThe principal objective in this reconciliation bill is to ensure that ICE and CBP are funded.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NK5iMLzrpI\">pic.twitter.com\/NK5iMLzrpI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CSPAN (@cspan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cspan\/status\/2056807756925989054?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 19, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In fairness to Republicans, the ballroom funding was removed because of the non-elected Senate Parliamentarian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision to omit the security funding came after \u2026 Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled over the weekend that the provision didn\u2019t comply with the strict rules governing what Republicans can put in their filibuster-skirting bill because it funded activities outside of the Judiciary Committee\u2019s jurisdiction,\u201d according to Politico.<\/p>\n<p>However, plenty of congressional Republicans complained to the media about the ballroom funding before MacDonough made her decision.<\/p>\n<p>Case in point:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Cassidy on ballroom: There\u2019s no architectural plans. I want a refund on the taxes that pay all of your salaries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c@LeaderJohnThune is an @TheDemocrats plant,\u201d another <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CRS1A071\/status\/2055397279884849335\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cLeaving the parliamentarian\u2019s poor decisions in place on the most recent reconciliation is asinine. No recess appointments, no SAVE America Act, Thune is legislating like @SenSchumer or @SenWarren .
