{"id":604966,"date":"2026-05-20T19:40:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T19:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=604966"},"modified":"2026-05-20T19:40:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T19:40:00","slug":"trump-order-increases-scrutiny-of-illegal-immigrants-banking-activity-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=604966","title":{"rendered":"Trump Order Increases Scrutiny Of Illegal Immigrants&#8217; Banking Activity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Trump Order Increases Scrutiny Of Illegal Immigrants&#8217; Banking Activity<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/trump-order-increases-scrutiny-of-illegal-migrants-banking-activity-6029631?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_campaign=ZeroHedge\"><em>Authored by Aldgra Fredly via The Epoch Times,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Donald Trump signed an executive order on May 19 directing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to provide banks with an advisory on financial risks posed by individuals living in the country illegally.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20-%202026-05-20T081452.793.jpg?itok=p2IoqP8k\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20-%202026-05-20T081452.793.jpg?itok=p2IoqP8k\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"1a4e1537-2379-4a15-8503-9cfe98635971\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"334\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/image%20-%202026-05-20T081452.793.jpg?itok=p2IoqP8k\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In his order, Trump urged banks to pay attention to credit risks posed by offering mortgage loans, car loans, credit cards, and other consumer credit products \u201cto the inadmissible and removable alien population.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMany of those borrowers face the possibility of the loss of wages due to removal or their employers\u2019 decisions to comply with immigration law,\u201d the president stated.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cLending to aliens without legal work authorization or who face a substantial loss-of-wage risk creates a structural \u2018ability to repay\u2019 deficiency that undermines the safety and soundness of the national banking system.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The order directs Bessent to issue an advisory to banks on identifying red flags tied to payroll tax evasion by employers or labor brokers, as well as accounts opened in another person\u2019s name to obscure the real beneficial owner\u2019s identity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Other warning signs highlighted in the order include the use of payment services that are unregistered with regulators to make \u201coff-the-books\u201d wage payments\u2014meaning that employers did not report wages to authorities\u2014labor trafficking, and the use of individual taxpayer identification numbers to obtain credit products or open bank accounts without verified lawful immigration status in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The order also requires the Treasury Department to consult with financial regulators and propose changes to the Bank Secrecy Act that would allow banks and other financial institutions to obtain customer identity information.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed changes would allow banks to collect information on whether account holders have \u201clawful immigration status and employment authorization in the United States when such information is relevant to assessing risks associated with fraud, identity misrepresentation, sanctions evasion, or other illicit financial activity,\u201d according to the order.<\/p>\n<p>Sen.
