Simpson\u2019s ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994, died on May 12, according to TMZ, which first reported the news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSources tell TMZ \u2026 Mark died from an aggressive form of throat cancer, which he was diagnosed with last year. Mark had been hospitalized for about a week before he died. He had done some cancer treatment \u2026 but made the final decision to stop. There won\u2019t be a funeral,\u201d the outlet reported on Monday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Detective Mark Fuhrman passed away today at 74.<\/p>\n<p>Considered to be one of the finest Detectives the LAPD ever produced, famously making the case against OJ Simpson.<\/p>\n<p>One of the first police officers to be smeared by the racist industrial complex, he was forced to retire and\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/llOC2AjYon\">pic.twitter.com\/llOC2AjYon<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 john jackson (@pvtjokerus) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pvtjokerus\/status\/2056516696429723920?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 18, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lynette Acebedo, the chief deputy coroner in Kootenai County, Idaho, confirmed Fuhrman\u2019s death on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be no other information provided through this office,\u201d Acebedo said in a statement, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/mark-fuhrman-oj-simpson-detective-rcna345787\">NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/mark-fuhrman-former-lapd-detective-in-o-j-simpson-case-dies-at-74-11978204\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>During Simpson\u2019s 1995 murder trial, Fuhrman testified about evidence in the case, including the bloody glove discovered at Simpson\u2019s Rockingham estate. Prosecutors argued the glove was a match to one found at the Brentwood murder scene, and DNA testing showed it contained the victims\u2019 blood.<\/p>\n<p>Simpson\u2019s defense team challenged Fuhrman\u2019s credibility during the trial and suggested that evidence had been planted, an allegation Fuhrman denied. The defense later presented recordings of Fuhrman using racist language after he had testified that he had not used anti-Black racial slurs in the previous decade, NBC Los Angeles reported.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere was never a shred, never a hint, never a possibility, not a remote, not a million-, not a billion-to-one possibility I could have planted anything,\u201d Fuhrman told ABC-TV back in 1996. \u201cNor would I have a reason to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He later retired from the LAPD before Simpson was acquitted in October 1995, and pleaded no contest in 1996 to a felony count of perjury related to the trial. He went on to write true crime books, including \u201cMurder in Brentwood,\u201d and made appearances as a commentator on various television and radio shows.<\/p>\n<p>Ron Goldman\u2019s father reacted to the news of the former LAPD detective\u2019s death, telling TMZ: \u201cAnytime anyone dies, it\u2019s a shame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He and Tanya Brown, Nicole\u2019s sister, told TMZ \u201cthey don\u2019t blame or fault Mark for O.J.\u2019s acquittal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Mark\u2019s legacy should not be based around our trial.
