Officially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizpacreview.com\/2026\/05\/18\/cubas-officially-out-of-oil-heres-what-happened-1639507\/\">out of oil<\/a> and faced with the potential of an impending indictment against de facto leader Ra\u00fal Castro, the administration leaks found the communist nation accusing the government of building \u201ca fraudulent case\u201d against Cuba about planned drone strikes as an excuse to make a military move.<\/p>\n<p>An Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/05\/17\/us-military-drones-cuba\">report<\/a> over the weekend claimed, while citing anonymous officials, \u201cCuba has acquired more than 300 military drones and recently began discussing plans to use them to attack the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay, U.S. military vessels and possibly Key West, Fla., 90 miles north of Havana, according to classified intelligence shared with Axios.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we think about those types of technologies being that close, and a range of bad actors from terror groups to drug cartels to Iranians to the Russians, it\u2019s concerning,\u201d said a \u201csenior U.S. official,\u201d according to the report. \u201cIt\u2019s a growing threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, in the wake of CIA Director John Ratcliffe visiting Cuba on Thursday, an anonymous CIA official told Axios, \u201cDirector Ratcliffe made clear that Cuba can no longer serve as a platform for adversaries to advance hostile agendas in our hemisphere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Western Hemisphere cannot be our adversaries\u2019 playground,\u201d added the official.<\/p>\n<p>Taking umbrage with the report, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla posted on X, \u201cWithout any legitimate excuse whatsoever, the #US government builds, day after day, a fraudulent case to justify the ruthless economic war against the Cuban people and the eventual military aggression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Given the extent of negative coverage of Trump\u2019s administration, the minister went on to make the absurd claim, \u201cSpecific media outlets play along, promoting slanders and leaking insinuations from the U.S. government itself. #Cuba neither threatens nor desires war. They lie all the time. How can you say it\u2019s not a real offer?
