Refine. Resubmit. None of this is abnormal during a Byrd process,\u201d Wrasse wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p>This ruling undermines efforts to approve the funding with a simple majority vote as part of a larger, roughly $72 billion package centered primarily on immigration enforcement. The move comes after Democrats pushed those budgetary measures amid the longest government shutdowns in U.S. history, Fox reported.<\/p>\n<p>MacDonough determined that the security funding provision is subject to chamber rules requiring 60 votes to pass most legislation, according to the office of Democrat Sen. Jeff Merkley, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Merkley appears ready to strike down a revised version of the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we expect Republicans to change this bill to appease Trump, Democrats are prepared to challenge any change to this bill,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The $1 billion bill was also questioned by several Senate Republicans days before MacDonough\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was one thing when private dollars were building it,\u201d Sen.
