An alleged \u201cthree-time Donald Trump voter\u201d served up quite the softball for corporate media to swipe at the president after professing a new understanding about \u201csomebody like Adolf Hitler.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 definitely not a deranged momala voter \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Saturday, C-SPAN\u2019s \u201cWashington Journal\u201d opened up its partisan call lines seemingly intended to give the program balance to bounce between Democrats, Republicans, and Independent voters as desired. However, many were left in doubt about the screening process when a self-identified former supporter of President Donald Trump turned to leftist talking points with a Hitler comparison and how the dictator \u201cwas able to brainwash millions of people.\u201d<\/p>\n

After lamenting continued support for Trump and admitting to voting for him in 2016, 2020, 2024 \u2014 while also considering Democrat and third-party candidates \u2014 Thomas from Hawaii was asked by host Taylor Popielarz what the last straw was.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s one thing. It\u2019s been a cumulative process, and it\u2019s gotten so blatant now,\u201d he suggested. \u201cHe was gonna lower prices on day one, he was gonna do this on day one, only he could fix all this stuff. And now I understand how somebody like Adolf Hitler was able to brainwash millions of people. I never thought I\u2019d see that again in my lifetime. But it\u2019s happened, right? I thought we got past that, but we don\u2019t learn from history.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the conversation began, Thomas, who called in on the Republican line, expressed, \u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to say this, but I think if I can open up about it in public, that it might help others. I wanted to believe Trump was the real deal for a long time \u2014 even though I had doubts \u2019cause I knew enough about his business history to think otherwise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now I regret my support for him, and I should\u2019ve known better. He\u2019s making it plain as day, he\u2019s a con man; a liar; doesn\u2019t keep his promises; he\u2019s in office all for himself; and he doesn\u2019t even try to hide his corruption anymore,\u201d he went on as he\u00a0described alternative media as the \u201cright-wing, propaganda for profit, disinformation media industrial complex.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thomas further argued, \u201c\u2026 he\u2019s the worst president we\u2019ve ever had, and he\u2019s the most corrupt president we\u2019ve ever had. I know it\u2019s hard, it took me a while to be able to say that \u2014 very difficult when you commit yourself to believing in somebody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outlets like The Daily Beast and HuffPost more readily shared the story of supposed regret, which concluded with the caller promoting an anti-Trump nonprofit called Leaving MAGA, repeatedly platformed by MS NOW and Frank Figliuzzi, former FBI assistant director for counterintelligence.<\/p>\n

Whether or not the caller actually held to Republican views was further questioned when he made the Trump Derangement Syndrome midterm election pitch,\u00a0\u201cRight now the only weapon is to vote for as many Democrats \u2014 whether you like \u2019em or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

As with corporate media leveraging the narrative, skeptics on social media were quick to splash cold water on the call.<\/p>\n
