Taking to Truth Social<\/a>, Trump wished everyone a happy Mother\u2019s Day weekend, including those who benefited from the unexpectedly high job growth numbers in April.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a>, April\u2019s job numbers blew the expected growth rate out of the water by nearly double.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe American economy added 115,000 jobs in April, the Labor Department said Friday, far exceeding expectations,\u201d the outlet reported. \u201cThat was down from a net gain of 185,000 in March. But it was much better than the 55,000 jobs that analysts polled by The Wall Street Journal had expected to see for April.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was no change in the 4.3% unemployment rate.<\/p>\n

\u201cBusinesses are seeing conditions stabilizing and they have weathered the tariffs, so many are hiring,\u201d said PNC chief economist Gus Faucher. \u201cIt\u2019s looking somewhat better than it did last year.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the first four months of the year, monthly payrolls have averaged 76,000, up from an average of about 42,000 during the same period last year.<\/p>\n

Still, the U.S. has shed jobs in two of the past six months, and many companies are reluctant to bring on new workers en masse. Companies grappling with changes in everything from trade to immigration and tax policy have for the most part held off on large-scale hiring and firing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still a high-anxiety job market,\u201d said\u00a0Diane Swonk, chief economist at KPMG. \u201cThose who have a job are clearly clinging on, while those looking for a job are feeling frozen out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n<\/p>

The good news is, the stock market rallied following the jobs report, with the S&P 500 rising by 0.8% and the Nasdaq composite hitting a record. Meanwhile, the \u201cDow Jones Industrial Average was roughly flat,\u201d the\u00a0Wall Street Journal<\/em> noted.<\/p>\n
