Szypula <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/72x72\/1f1fa-1f1f8.png\" alt=\"\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/> (@Bubblebathgirl) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Bubblebathgirl\/status\/2052470820488810563?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 7, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The DOJ said that as long as Congress chooses to run a parcel service, \u201cthe Second Amendment precludes it from refusing to ship constitutionally protected firearms to and from law-abiding citizens, even if they are not licensed manufacturers or dealers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NRA called the proposed rule change a \u201cmonumental development for gun owners,\u201d saying the USPS handgun prohibition \u201ccontinues to create massive and needless headaches for law-abiding gun owners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20260119\/doj-determines-1927-prohibition-on-mailing-handguns-violates-second-amendment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NRA-ILA<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Handgun owners cannot use the U.S. mail to ship their firearms to themselves, say during a move or for a hunting trip or competition. Astute gun owners will be aware of the potential perils of lawfully traveling through certain parts of the country with a legally-owned firearm, despite the federal protections provided by the Firearm Owners\u2019 Protection Act \u2013 making mailing a firearm preferable in many instances. Moreover, handgun owners cannot use the U.S. Post to ship their firearm directly to a manufacturer or gunsmith for modification or repair.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As for retail sales, the Gun Control Act of 1968 requires customers purchasing firearms at retail to obtain all firearms through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL or gun dealer) in their state.<\/p>\n<p>Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford is opposing the rule change \u2014 the state experienced the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history in 2017, when a gunman killed 60 people while firing from the Mandalay Bay casino hotel in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur state has suffered enough, and to suggest we make it easier for criminals and abusers to access firearms is a slap in the face to gun violence survivors and law enforcement,\u201d said the Democrat who is running for governor.<\/p>\n<p>John Feinblatt, president of the gun-grabbing Everytown for Gun Safety, told the Associated Press the proposed rule would turn the USPS into a \u201cgun trafficking pipeline\u201d for illegal weapons, while stripping law enforcement of the tools they need to prevent and investigate gun crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, in the eyes of social media users, the USPS\u2019s dismal performance record may be the biggest detriment to mailing guns.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">No one would be stupid enough to send a gun through the USPS\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Their tracking system is pathetic and never accurate<\/p>\n<p>Plus with the employees stealing packages \u2026<\/p>\n<p>I won\u2019t ship anything through them\u2026nothing<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Trump #45 #47<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/72x72\/1f1fa-1f1f8.png\" alt=\"\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/> (@DrMarkStano) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrMarkStano\/status\/2052517790901317826?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 7, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It wouldn\u2019t be a problem if USPS was more reliable.
