Democrats and their media allies laughed, but it appears President Donald Trump was right when he warned a year ago about D.C.\u2019s \u201cfake crime numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cD.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety,\u201d the president wrote on Truth Social back in August. \u201cThis is a very bad and dangerous thing to do, and they are under serious investigation for so doing!\u201d<\/p>\n

BREAKING: President Trump has just revealed that Washington, DC is \u201cunder serious investigation\u201d for apparently giving fake crime numbers.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil 4 days ago, Washington, D.C., was the most unsafe \u201ccity\u201d in the United States, and perhaps the World.\u201d<\/p>\n

A day later, after the media reported that the Trump administration had opened an investigation into the matter and was sending troops to D.C., Democrats and their media allies pounced, accusing him of using a manufactured crisis to invade the city with his \u201cGestapo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet months later, it\u2019s since been confirmed that D.C.\u2019s crime data was most likely manipulated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThirteen members of Washington, DC\u2019s Metropolitan Police Department have been placed on administrative leave and face possible termination following an internal investigation into allegations that crime data was manipulated to make the city appear safer,\u201d CNN<\/a> reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

According to local station WJLA<\/a>, these firings may just be the beginning: \u201cThe city is expected to see a domino effect of change with the D.C. Police; the 13 officials put on leave are just the first step,\u201d the station reported.<\/p>\n

The White House celebrated D.C.\u2019s decision to finally take responsibility and pursue change.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Trump was right \u2013 crime in Washington DC was a serious problem before he took bold action to establish a task force to make the city safe and beautiful again,\u201d a spokesperson told Fox News<\/a>. \u201cNow, crime rates have dropped dramatically, dangerous criminals have been removed from the streets, and the city\u2019s true grandeur is being restored.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocrats should learn an important lesson from this; instead of instinctively attacking the President and his great ideas, they should work with him to deliver for the American people,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has taken some of the credit for what\u2019s now happening in D.C.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese terminations are a direct result of the Oversight Committee\u2019s work exposing dangerous efforts by DC Police leaders to artificially lower crime rates,\u201d he said in an official statement.<\/p>\n

He also spoke about the matter directly from D.C.:<\/p>\n

They were wrong. Accountability is here and 13 officials have been FIRED in connection with modifications to crime stats.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe launched the investigation on the Oversight Committee of the Metro Police Department because I think we all live in Washington, D.C., and we all say that crime is out of control,\u201d he said in the clip above. \u201cPeople were carjacking cars.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, it was out of control before the president brought in the National Guard. And then the Metro Police Department would cite these crime statistics and try to say crime was down.\u00a0I don\u2019t think anybody was buying that. So we did the investigation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Using whistleblowers, the committee investigated D.C.\u2019s crime numbers while Democrats \u201ccriticized every step of the way,\u201d Comer noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of you may have written that this was a partisan, racial investigation or whatever, [but] at the end of the day, the accountability is that they were lying and 13 police officers have been removed,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s very difficult to remove a government employee. So I think this is a victory for accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n

But more accountability may still be needed. Back in August, the leftist \u201cfact-checker\u201d FactCheck.org alleged through an \u201cexpert\u201d that \u201cD.C. police murder stats [are] \u2018very reliable.’\u201d<\/p>\n
