Graham Platner, the Maine leftist seeking Sen. Susan Collins\u2019 seat, predicted on Saturday that he\u2019ll be arrested if he wins his race against Collins but Democrats fail to retake the whole Senate.<\/p>\n

He made the prediction while speaking on Saturday in a chicken barn in Appleton, according to the Midcoast Villager<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He said that, as a senator, one of his roles would include \u201can element of activism,\u201d including appearances at protests.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we don\u2019t get the majority and things continue to get worse, I will promise you that I\u2019m going to be arrested as a United States senator,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time he\u2019s spouted such rhetoric:<\/p>\n

Platner also vowed to lead the resistance against Trump\u2014who won Paul and Massie\u2019s state of Kentucky by 30 points\u2014in the Senate. Platner said he would \u201cget arrested\u201d during the Trump administration\u2019s final two years. pic.twitter.com\/jhCVjFp4m8<\/a><\/p>\n

If, on the other hand, Democrats retake the Senate, Graham vowed Democrats would \u201cshut the White House down.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haul everyone in the White House under subpoena, day in, day out, in front of Senate committees to answer questions about all the lawbreaking they\u2019ve been doing,\u201d he boasted.<\/p>\n

He also broached the possibility of trying to impeach and remove \u201cat least two\u201d Supreme Court justices.<\/p>\n

Republicans aren\u2019t taking these threats lying down.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a good thing Graham Platner isn\u2019t a real oysterman from Maine because he\u2019ll no longer be able to live in the state after we thoroughly beat the sh-t out of him,\u201d a spokesperson for the Senate Leadership Fund told Semafor<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n

Platner also faces problems on his own side of the aisle because of his history of having a large Nazi symbol \u2013 an SS Totenkopf \u2014 on his chest, though it\u2019s since been covered up, and of victim-blaming female sexual assault victims.<\/p>\n

He was confronted about the latter at a town hall last year:<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rep. Debbie Dingell, a top Democrat from Michigan, declined on Saturday to say whether she\u2019ll support Platner\u2019s candidacy after a CNN host pressed her about his past behavior.<\/p>\n

\u201cGraham Platner \u2026 had to apologize for a tattoo that resembles a Nazi symbol, and for comments he made criticizing rape victims,\u201d the CNN host said. \u201cIn Reddit posts uncovered by CNN\u2019s K-File, he called himself a communist and called cops, quote, \u2018bastards.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s disavowed those posts. He said they came from a time when he felt disillusioned and angry. But I\u2019m curious if you think that he is an appropriate person to represent the Democratic Party,\u201d the host added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, first of all, I\u2019m going to say I was very upset as a woman who has dealt with domestic violence, grew up in a home, and other sexual violence, very upset by what his previous comments were,\u201d Dingell replied before performing a 180 in Platner\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not on the ground in Maine. I think that people need to \u2014 people are angry. People are upset. People want change in this country. And if you don\u2019t see people standing up to the president, then you see some of the results of what happened in Maine,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Democrat Rep. Debbie Dingell refuses to answer if she will support communist Graham Platner \u2014 who said women should \u201cact like an adult\u201d to avoid rape.<\/p>\n

But I am very concerned about making sure that we keep the Michigan Senate seat a Democratic seat in November and that we pull people together after what\u2019s becoming a very raucous primary.\u201d<\/p>\n
