After America\u2019s Governor roasted \u201cTemu Obama\u201d over his \u201cmaximum warfare\u201d remarks, Rev. Al Sharpton resorted like clockwork to claims of \u201cGOP racist rhetoric.\u201d<\/p>\n

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) may be serving his last term in the Sunshine State, but while his political future remained unknown he\u2019s hardly been coasting to the finish line. Having once again taken charge in redistricting as rumors swirled about a possible position in the president\u2019s administration, a knock against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) bristled MS NOW\u2019s Sharpton because of an alleged \u201coffensive accent\u201d in particular.<\/p>\n

During Sunday\u2019s installment of \u201cPoliticsNation,\u201d the host interviewed Florida Democratic Chair and failed gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried and said, \u201cNow, Republicans are trying to claim that black majority districts across the country are racially discriminatory. Yet, Florida\u2019s governor has been out this week mocking House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, using an offensive accent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat do you make of the GOP racist rhetoric right now at the same time they\u2019re dismantling civil rights protections that have been an important part of our democracy for decades now?\u201d asked Sharpton.<\/p>\n

The specific reference pertained to remarks made by DeSantis during an announcement pertaining to the I-95\/U.S. 1 Interchange where he brought up Jeffries with what many considered a spot-on impression.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe gon\u2019 do maximum warfare against Republicans. Florida Republicans, you \u2018F\u2019 around, you gonna find out,\u201d said the governor waving his finger about like the New York Democrat. DeSantis went on to remind how he himself said, \u201cMake my day,\u201d to leftist threats of redistricting. \u201c\u2026 you want to come down here and spend money in Florida, roll the dice and take your chances.\u201d<\/p>\n

As had been reported<\/a>, DeSantis encouraged Jeffries to make the trip to Florida, saying, \u201cPlease. Be my guest. I will pay for you to come down to Florida to campaign. I\u2019ll put you up in the Florida governor\u2019s mansion. We will take you fishing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Fried leveraged Sharpton\u2019s prompt to the fullest as re-upped tired attacks against the governor that viewed reforms against divisive indoctrination at government-run schools as similarly \u201cracist.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRemember that this has been DeSantis\u2019 M.O. Just a couple years ago, he got rid of black history in our school system,\u201d said Fried. \u201cBack in 2022, he actually vetoed the maps from the legislature during the actual redistricting period of time so that he can draw his own maps to dismantle one of our black elected congressional seats in the panhandle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo this is what Ron DeSantis has consistently been doing. You know, the \u2018Stop Woke Act,\u2019 the DEI attacks. So, I\u2019m not surprised that DeSantis continues to stoop lower and lower and lower when it comes to this rhetoric,\u201d she went on before her attack was turned on President Donald Trump for mocking officials and dehumanizing them.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trump had turned to the GOP on Sunday asking if \u201cLow IQ\u201d Jeffries was subject to impeachment<\/a>, a query to found the governor tacking on, \u201cHakeem wanted \u2018maximum warfare,\u2019 didn\u2019t he?\u201d<\/p>\n
