A Michigan city has spent thousands of taxpayer dollars to remove signs that may make some people feel \u201cunwelcome.\u201d<\/p>\n

City crews in Ann Arbor spent man-hours and taxpayer funds removing more than 600 \u201cNeighborhood Watch\u201d signs because liberal leaders claimed they were \u201cexpressions of exclusion.\u201d The fact that they were actually excluding criminals seemed lost on the city council and the mayor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Neighborhood Watch program, which emerged in the 1970s during a period of national anxiety about crime and social change, is defunct, and research shows such signage does not reduce crime and can reinforce biased surveillance,\u201d read a post on the city government\u2019s social media account.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cRemoving the signs aligns the city\u2019s environment with its commitment to inclusive, evidence-based public safety and fostering trust, belonging and welcoming neighborhoods for all residents and visitors,\u201d the caption read.<\/p>\n

Members of the city council, as well as Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor, joined the effort to personally yank the signs.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrankly, neighborhood watch signs are expressions of exclusion, and they\u2019re inconsistent with our values. Ann Arbor is a welcoming community. We don\u2019t want to push people away. We want to welcome folks in,\u201d the Democrat mayor said in the posted video.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are people that look like me, and those from my community that have been questioned, quite frankly, in their own neighborhood by others, you know, wondering what they\u2019re doing there,\u201d Council Member Cynthia Harrison said in the video. \u201cThis is just representative of our values and how we want people to feel in Ann Arbor. We do welcome everyone to the city of Ann Arbor, but most importantly, we want everyone to feel welcome and just the removal of these signs is a huge step in that direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a unanimous vote in December, the leftists on the city council approved spending $18,000 to have every sign taken down by July 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiberals are always siding with the criminals over the victims,\u201d Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany noted on \u201cThe Five.\u201d<\/p>\n
