It\u2019s become apparent for many years that the fashion industry has largely run out of ideas, and a new \u201csandal\u201d is proving the point.<\/p>\n

Luxury brand Chanel unveiled a new heel-capped contraption that leaves the rest of the foot exposed during its Cruise 2027 collection in France on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The ridiculous design was reportedly even questioned by Chanel\u2019s own staff until they talked themselves into it after seeing a picture of the beach.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt some point, someone told me, \u2018It\u2019s too much,\u2019\u201d Chanel Creative Director Matthieu Blazy told Women\u2019s Wear Daily. \u201cAnd then we saw this amazing photo of the seashore \u2026 it\u2019s such a mess, such an explosion. I was like, \u2018You know what? Let\u2019s go!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEssentially runway shows are meant to showcase a designers vision for the brand for that particular collection,\u201d the account explained. \u201cThe pieces that are often on the \u2018edgier\u2019 side like those sandals elicit a tremendous amount of buzz, which yes, sometimes is negative. BUT, the negative buzz is often not their target consumer. These sandals will likely never be produced, and IF they are, it will be in extremely limited quantities and offered exclusively to the most elite Chanel collectors around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
