{"id":593128,"date":"2026-04-29T12:00:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T12:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=593128"},"modified":"2026-04-29T12:00:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T12:00:57","slug":"ms-now-fbi-still-unsure-who-shot-officer-outside-ballroom-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=593128","title":{"rendered":"MS NOW: FBI still unsure who shot officer outside ballroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/americanwirenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/sg-whcd-briefing-1200x630.jpg\" class=\"attachment-facebook size-facebook wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Efforts to uncover answers about Saturday\u2019s assassination attempt found MS NOW reporting on the \u201cmystery\u201d of who was actually shooting at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner.<\/p>\n<p>As with the tragedy at the July 13, 2024, Butler, Pennsylvania, rally and the subsequent attempt on President Donald Trump\u2019s life weeks later at his West Palm Beach golf club, the most pressing question beyond who radicalized the alleged would-be assassin has been about potential security failures.<\/p>\n<p>While the president himself has continued to offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizpacreview.com\/2024\/07\/28\/trump-props-up-brave-female-secret-service-agent-who-shielded-him-during-failed-assassination-1475745\/\">nothing but praise<\/a> for those who\u2019ve protected him, sources that spoke with MS NOW suggested that the U.S. Secret Service agent struck during the apprehension of the suspect may have been a victim of friendly fire and that investigators remain \u201cunable to say for certain\u201d what happened.<\/p>\n<p>Under the headline, \u201c3 days after correspondents\u2019 dinner, FBI still unsure who shot officer outside ballroom,\u201d MS NOW <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ms.now\/news\/three-days-after-correspondents-dinner-fbi-still-unsure-who-shot-officer-outside-ballroom\">reported<\/a>, \u201cThe FBI has not found the fragment that pierced a Secret Service officer\u2019s bullet-proof vest at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner on Saturday, leaving it unable to say for certain that the armed attacker shot the officer or how he was injured, according to two people briefed on the probe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaw enforcement agents on the scene Saturday believe Cole Tomas Allen, the suspect who breached the dinner\u2019s final checkpoint, fired his shotgun and struck the officer with buckshot from his weapon, according to one of the people, who asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the ongoing probe,\u201d the report continued. \u201cA check of Allen\u2019s shotgun showed that he discharged a shell but did not reload, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told reporters Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the suggestion that the suspect was responsible for shooting the Secret Service agent, details raised doubts as MS NOW\u2019s Carol Leonnig, Mychael Schnell, and Ken Dilanian stated, \u201cBut a mystery surrounds Allen\u2019s use of his weapon \u2014 and the scuffle and shooting just above the Washington Hilton ballroom where President Donald Trump and many of his senior administration officials were joined for the dinner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to noting that the shell of the suspect\u2019s shotgun had not been ejected and the agent who fired five rounds \u2014 reportedly the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizpacreview.com\/2026\/04\/28\/secret-service-agent-shot-at-whcd-was-only-one-to-return-fire-affidavit-1635234\/\">only agent to return fire<\/a> \u2014 hadn\u2019t struck the suspect, the detail that the suspect was running toward the checkpoint before falling raised questions about how the alleged would-be assassin fired on someone behind him.<\/p>\n<p>Along with questions about the findings of the investigation thus far, former Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino joined the chorus of concern about the security at the hotel hosting Saturday\u2019s dinner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think in the autopsy of this afterwards \u2026 In an event like this with an open hotel doing business, where it\u2019s resource-constrained, and it\u2019s very difficult to shut down the whole hotel, was the security perimeter compressed too far inside?\u201d asked Bongino on \u201cFox &amp;
