Should you ever need to get hold of us, just give us a ring.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">King Charles III gifted President Trump the original bell from the HMS Trump, a WWII-era British submarine, during the White House State Dinner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShould you ever need to get hold of us, just give us a ring.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dBWRQLgJ7C\">pic.twitter.com\/dBWRQLgJ7C<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Fox News (@FoxNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews\/status\/2049304713363906909?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 29, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/04\/29\/king-charles-gave-donald-trump-a-bell-hms-trump-28162231\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.K. Metro<\/a>, the HMS Trump \u201cserved as a Royal Navy submarine in World War II in the Pacific.\u201d As for the submarine\u2019s name, it was reportedly based on \u201cno one in particular.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the 1940s, most Royal Navy vessels were named with short \u2018T\u2019 names, including HMS Tiptoe, Truncheon and more,\u201d the Metro notes.<\/p>\n<p>King Charles also gave the president a framed replica of the 1879 design plans for the Resolute Desk, which was reportedly made from the timbers of a British exploration ship known as the HMS Resolute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ship was refitted and recovered by the US government before being sent back to England and presented to Queen Victoria in December 1856 as a gesture of goodwill and friendship between the two countries,\u201d according to the Metro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter serving in the Royal Navy until 1879, the ship\u2019s timbers were used to make three desks in Kent, England.
