Lindsey Graham and Rand Paul.<\/p>\n<p>Graham and fellow Sens. Katie Britt and Eric Schmitt held a press conference Monday evening, unveiling a bill \u201cto fund the construction of the presidential ballroom in the East Wing of the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like the vote as soon as possible to accelerate what America needs: A secure facility for the president and others to meet in, to have a good time, to \u200benjoy themselves without putting the nation at risk,\u201d Graham said at the presser.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the bill would provide $400 million for the ballroom, $332 million of which would come from \u201ccustoms fees\u201d on imported goods.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Lindsey Graham says they are going introduce legislation that\u2019s going to authorize 400 million dollars to be spent on building the ballroom: We pay for it by offsetting it with customs fees. The sooner we get the ballroom built, the better it is for the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aYS3Pi07gT\">pic.twitter.com\/aYS3Pi07gT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Acyn (@Acyn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Acyn\/status\/2048888072859959489?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 27, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Paul, the chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, also vowed on Monday to bring forward a bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve reviewed the White House ballroom proposal and support moving it forward,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RandPaul\/status\/2048843059152953520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote in a tweet<\/a>. \u201cTomorrow, I\u2019ll bring my bill to the floor that allows it to proceed without new taxpayer costs and make it easier for Congress to review major White House projects going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, there has been growing pushback from some on the right, like Sen. Rick Scott, who\u2019s said he has zero interest in paying off the ballroom with taxpayer money like Graham would like to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have $39 trillion of debt. Maybe we ought to stop spending money,\u201d the senator told Sahil Kapur of NBC News:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Sen. Bob Menendez who have no interest in building the ballroom because they don\u2019t care what happens to Trump and his Cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s an affordability crisis out there. No one gives a shit about the president\u2019s ballroom except the president,\u201d he said on Monday to a far-left media outlet known as MeidasTouch. \u201cThat\u2019s the reality. But Republicans will do whatever they can to appease the president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will never end.
