Despite Democrats doubling down, Don Lemon had something of a hissy fit over what he sees as a \u201cfalse equivalence\u201d between the left\u2019s rhetoric and a muddied take on the president\u2019s own words.<\/p>\n

In the wake of the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner, where President Donald Trump faced yet another assassination attempt, elected Democrats largely chose either silence or a blanket condemnation of political violence. As their own record of vile rhetoric<\/a> was recirculated without apology, Lemon invoked Jan. 6, 2021, venting that comparisons drive him \u201cf*cking crazy!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWords have consequences. Rhetoric really matters, and I believe that genuinely across the board. And that\u2019s not a one-sided principle; it applies to everyone,\u201d claimed the former CNN talking head who was counted among a mob of people indicted for allegedly conspiring against the First Amendment rights<\/a> of congregants at a Minnesota church.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I cannot say with a straight face \u2014 and nobody can say that with a straight face in the world that we live in right now \u2014 that Democrats saying \u2018Trump is terrible for this country\u2019 is the same thing as Donald Trump standing in front of a crowd on January 6 and telling them to march to the Capitol and \u2018fight like hell,’\u201d he fumed. \u201cI cannot say those things are equivalent because they are not.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so sick of false equivalence,\u201d added Lemon. \u201cIt drives my f*cking crazy!\u201d Because that is bullsh*t!\u201d<\/p>\n

Worth noting, the characterization of the president\u2019s remarks from his rally at the Ellipse on Jan. 6 is akin to the presentation in a BBC Panorama Documentary that prompted a $10 billion lawsuit from Trump alleging that statements made within were \u201cfabricated and aired by the BBC.\u201d<\/p>\n

A letter from the president\u2019s attorneys alleged that the \u201cBBC intentionally sought to completely mislead its viewers by splicing together three separate parts of President Trump\u2019s speech to supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe documentary showed President Trump telling supporters: \u2018We\u2019re gonna walk down to the Capitol, and I\u2019ll be there with you, and we fight. We fight like hell, and if you don\u2019t fight like hell, you\u2019re not going to have a country anymore,’\u201d stated the letter.<\/p>\n

However, what the president actually said was, \u201cI know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard,\u201d minutes before going on to state, \u201cAnd we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don\u2019t fight like hell, you\u2019re not going to have a country anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the very same day Lemon was downplaying Democrat rhetoric as simply calling the president \u201cterrible for this country,\u201d House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D) had a defiant response to the press after he was called out for his own rhetoric.<\/p>\n

Challenged in part on his use of the phrase \u201cmaximum warfare\u201d against Republicans, the wannabe House speaker said, \u201cThe notion that any of us are concerned with so-called criticism from these phony Republicans as it relates to anything that has been said \u2014 certainly as it relates to the comment related to maximum warfare, everywhere, all the time in connection with the redistricting battle that Republicans launched \u2014 I stand by it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can continue to criticize me for it,\u201d asserted Jeffries. \u201cI don\u2019t give a damn about your criticism!\u201d<\/p>\n

Democrat House Leader Hakeem Jeffries stands by calling for \u201cmaximum warfare\u201d against President Trump even after the assassination attempt on him and his administration.<\/p>\n

Lemon also made a point of stating that\u00a0he believes what the suspect did was wrong and that no one should \u201cpick up weapons and walk towards a room full of people,\u201d before he went on to make clear his opposition to the president being made into a \u201cmartyr.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, I don\u2019t want Donald Trump dead, okay? I do not want Donald Trump dead. Let me say that,\u201d expressed the podcaster. \u201cNot because I have any warmth towards him \u2014 I really don\u2019t. I don\u2019t. I think he\u2019s a repulsive human being.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reactions to Lemon\u2019s take may well drive him crazier, as social media users weren\u2019t buying his further demonization of the president to defend the record of Democrats.<\/p>\n
