{"id":591683,"date":"2026-04-26T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=591683"},"modified":"2026-04-26T11:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T11:00:00","slug":"the-technate-was-always-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=591683","title":{"rendered":"The Technate Was Always Coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">The Technate Was Always Coming<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bombthrower.com\/the-technate-was-always-coming\/\"><em>Authored by Mark Jeftovic via BombThrower.com,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>And what you can do about it (besides complaining).<\/h2>\n<p>Palantir\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PalantirTech\/status\/2045574398573453312\">dropped a manifesto<\/a>\u00a0last weekend. 22 bullet points distilled from Alex Karp\u2019s book\u00a0<em>The Technological Republic<\/em>, posted to X with the casual framing of \u201cbecause we get asked a lot.\u201d I haven\u2019t seen a reaction so widespread, unanimously opposed and viscerally aghast since James Damore\u2019s infamous \u201cGoogle\u2019s Ideological Echo Chamber\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/technate-hero.jpg?itok=V6J3UWI-\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/technate-hero.jpg?itok=V6J3UWI-\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"a5949ab0-c999-4b87-b5fa-0e17e3157df0\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"200\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/technate-hero.jpg?itok=V6J3UWI-\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The usual suspects lost their shit. Engadget called it \u201cthe ramblings of a comic book villain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TechCrunch clutched its pearls at the bits about \u201cregressive\u201d cultures and \u201cvacant and hollow pluralism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bellingcat\u2019s Eliot Higgins observed, (<a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/eliothiggins.bsky.social\/post\/3mjtot35nxk2n\">via Bluesky<\/a>, of course), that these aren\u2019t philosophical musings floating in the ether: they\u2019re the public ideology of a company whose revenue depends on the politics it\u2019s advocating.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s not wrong, Palantir sells to ICE, DoD, NYPD, and the intelligence community. It may be a manifesto, but it\u2019s also product literature.<\/p>\n<p>Even Alexander Dugin, the Russian \u201cFourth Political Theory\u201d philosopher, not exactly known for having a libertarian bent, seemed triggered by it, calling it \u201cthe plan of the Western techno-fascism\u201d on X, \u201cPure Satanism\u201d on his Substack.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">Palantir manifesto is the plan of the Western techno-fascism. The superiority of the white race based on the technology. No antisemitism, no sacredness, no socialism of old historic fascism. This time pure capitalist, Jews friendly, profane, materialist. Anglo. Posthumanist.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alexander Dugin (@AGDugin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGDugin\/status\/2045857431280828555?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 19, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Former Greek FM Yanis Varoufakis called it \u201cevil\u201d and put out\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/yanisvaroufakis\/status\/2045981489603461309\">his own point-for-point on it<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 he calls it a refutation, it\u2019s actually more of a rant.<\/p>\n<p>So everybody across the horseshoe is big mad. Fine.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, none of this should surprise anyone. Let\u2019s now look at why the policy this \u201cmanifesto\u201d outlines was always going to arrive, with or without Karp\u2019s prosaic stylings.<\/p>\n<h2>Karp Didn\u2019t Invent \u201cThe Technate\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>The merger of corporate power and state apparatus, the \u201ctechnate\u201d that people are suddenly discovering with horror on a Sunday afternoon, is not a new idea. It\u2019s not even a recent one.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2013, Eric Schmidt (then Google\u2019s executive chairman) and Jared Cohen (Google Ideas, ex-State Department advisor to Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton) published\u00a0<em>The New Digital Age<\/em>. The book was blurbed by Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Albright, Tony Blair, and General Michael Hayden, the former director of the CIA. That\u2019s an elite-class blurb list for a book that explicitly argued for the intersection of Silicon Valley and state power, the fusion of corporate infrastructure with national security logic, and the reshaping of diplomacy through private platforms.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013 it was called \u201ctransformational.\u201d Kissinger gushing that it was, \u201ca searching meditation on technology and world order\u201d (he would go on to co-author\u00a0<em>The Age of AI<\/em>\u00a0with Eric Schmidt that should be every bit as concerning as Karp\u2019s\u00a0<em>Technological Republic<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Not too long after that, Google\u2019s Sergey Brin and Klaus Schwab held a fireside in Davos where Herr Schwab pontificated that with the advent of AI, since the algos would be able to predict election outcomes with 100% certainty,\u00a0<em>they may as well pick the winners anyway and we could do away with elections altogether.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nobody batted an eye. My timeline certainly wasn\u2019t overflowing with rage over it and the people who were calling attention to it were using facing all kinds of headwinds.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">In a conversation with Google founder Sergey Brin, founder of the WEF, Klaus Schwab, delights at the thought of a future without elections:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Digital technologies mainly have an analytical power. Jeftovic (@jeftovic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jeftovic\/status\/1842343046752436673?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 4, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here we have an ex-Goldman Sachs guy running a Chinese multi-national sermonizing about mass surveillance and personal carbon footprint quotas and my timeline was not filled with angry tweets from elite A-listers calling for the dismantling of Ali Baba.<\/p>\n<p>Here in 2026<strong>\u00a0it\u2019s the exact same structural narrative<\/strong>, now with Karp\u2019s sharper edges and fewer Davos euphemisms, only this one is being called a fascist manifesto instead of drooled over by media elites.<\/p>\n<p>The only major difference I can see is where Davos\/WEF inspired technocracy was globalist, Palantir, Karp, Thiel et al are\u00a0<em>nationalist<\/em>. Perhaps, a North American nationalist.<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/technate-1940-map.jpg?itok=9aNyBVHF\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/technate-1940-map.jpg?itok=9aNyBVHF\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"ac8f4588-a78f-43ba-bef4-7b5a04d4b2ed\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"348\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/technate-1940-map.jpg?itok=9aNyBVHF\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>This map is from 1940<\/em><\/p>\n<p>(This fits with what I wrote in my last edition of The Bitcoin Capitalist, about the factional rivalry between the intellectual descendants of Samuel Huntington (\u201cThe Clash of Civilizations\u201d) vs his former pupil, Francis Fukuyama (\u201cThe End of History\u201d) I\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptohedge.substack.com\/p\/the-end-of-history-vs-the-clash-of\">posted an excerpt here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fukuyama thought the entire world would become one big Neo-Liberal circle-jerk.<\/p>\n<p>Huntington said future conflict wouldn\u2019t be between countries, but between\u00a0<em>cultures<\/em>. And some cultures were less compatible with how we live here in the West, than others (Palantir\u2019s point #21).<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the project didn\u2019t change. The faction driving it did.<\/p>\n<p>Driving what? The inexorable drive toward post-Democratic technocracy.<\/p>\n<h2>Here\u2019s what nobody wants to hear.<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re reading Karp\u2019s 22 points and feeling a cold prickle of recognition, if you\u2019re realizing that what Palantir is describing is the operational blueprint for the next 40 years, there\u2019s something you have to sit with first:<\/p>\n<p><em>You put your hand up for this.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">In case you wondering what makes a company like Palantir even possible&#8230;. But collectively,\u00a0<em>\u201cwe\u201d<\/em>, the Western mass public already ran a dress rehearsal. And we all passed (or flunked) with flying colours.<\/p>\n<p>During the pandemic and in the years immediately after, the political and managerial class\u00a0<em>was wrong about effectively everything.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The origin of the virus. The (non)-efficacy of lockdowns. The vaccines didn\u2019t work and were in fact, kill-shots for many. The money printing.<\/p>\n<p>The correct response to being that wrong, that publicly, and that unwaveringly, about that much, should have been pitchforks and torches in the streets, if not guillotines.<\/p>\n<p>At the very least, in our enlightened civilization: recall elections, mass firings, inquests and class actions. There should have been a generational reckoning with expertise that got captured by politics, a media cartel that went full agitprop and Chapter-7 bankruptcy for institutional credibility.<\/p>\n<p>That is not what happened.<\/p>\n<p>What happened instead was that people stood on the dots. We wore the masks on the walk from the restaurant door to the table, then took them off to eat, sitting in saran wrap bubbles on the street in the middle of winter.<\/p>\n<p>People snitched on their neighbours. They watched elites throw lavish maskless parties while they got tased by cops at their kids\u2019 soccer games.<\/p>\n<p>In other words: we\u00a0<em>\u201cfollowed the science\u201d<\/em>, even as the science was revised quarterly to match policy because the facts on the ground refused to conform to the narrative.<\/p>\n<p>And now, most people will fight tooth and nail to defend the very system that did this to them.<\/p>\n<p>The pandemic was the trial balloon. The political class, Wall Street, and Silicon Valley watched carefully.<\/p>\n<p>What they learned was this:\u00a0<strong>the population will comply<\/strong>. The population will inform on itself. The population will absorb humiliating, contradictory, demonstrably false directives from authorities, and\u00a0<em>the dominant social behaviour will be enforcement of those directives on anyone who objects.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Technate has been an ideation of post-Democratic elites since at least the 1930\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>It has been moving forward inexorably ever since, but it was probably that event, the pandemic and the populace cucking out at a mass level when the technate became inevitable.<\/p>\n<p>Not because of any single manifesto, book, or CEO. Because a civilization that behaves that way under stress has already told its elites what it will accept.<\/p>\n<h2>The Technocracy Is Already Here<\/h2>\n<p>The manifesto isn\u2019t about Palantir specifically. It\u2019s the blueprint for what I\u2019ve already been noticing, not just in the US but everywhere, that I\u2019ve been calling<strong>\u00a0State Capitalism.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the fused-lattice model of corporate-state power where the company doesn\u2019t lobby the government, it is part of the governing apparatus, and the government in turn provides the regulatory moat that keeps the company\u2019s competitors out, and to whom they can outsource things that national governments aren\u2019t supposed to be doing.<\/p>\n<p>This is where we\u2019re headed for the next few decades. Every ICE deployment, every DoD contract, every integration between federal databases and private analytics, every AI-for-defense procurement cycle, every surveillance-as-a-service rollout is a beam in the Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s the part that separates the individuals from the crowd:<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you can\u2019t beat \u2019em. We\u2019ve been talking about this for a long time (we call it\u00a0<strong>The Great Bifurcation<\/strong>, and as we always suspected, the branch you wind up in is largely an exercise in self-selection). For the next few decades, The Technate will be the vehicle through which capital will compound, and the only rational response is to own a piece of it. Capital is optionality. Wealth is exit velocity. They don\u2019t get to be outraged now.<\/p>\n<p>Some people saw this coming years ago.
