President Trump\u2019s executive order to slash red tape and accelerate psychedelic therapies for America\u2019s veterans is drawing praise from an unlikely source: Jon Stewart.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cOver the weekend, President Trump signed an executive order\u2026 fast-tracking the FDA process for novel psychedelic drug treatments for veterans suffering from all forms of PTSD and other psychiatric conditions, including addiction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart even played footage from the signing ceremony, making fun of Trump\u2019s distinctive pronunciation of \u201cibogaine\u201d before catching himself. \u201cI\u2019m sorry. I\u2019m falling into old habits. It\u2019s good. You did a good thing. I\u2019m nitpicking. I apologize,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of the people are going to get the help they need,\u201d Stewart concluded.<\/p>\n

This marks a rare moment of cross-aisle recognition for a Trump policy that puts veterans\u2019 lives ahead of decades-old bureaucratic barriers dating back to the 1970 Controlled Substances Act.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Trump signed the directive titled \u201cAccelerating Medical Treatments for Serious Mental Illness\u201d in the Oval Office on April 18, flanked by Rogan, RFK Jr., Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.<\/p>\n\n

Rogan, a longtime advocate for exploring these treatments after hearing from veterans and researchers, played a key role in bringing the issue to Trump\u2019s attention.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rogan revealed the conversation that sparked swift action. After texting the president details on ibogaine\u2019s potential for PTSD and opioid addiction, Trump replied almost immediately: \u201cSounds great. Do you want FDA approval? Let\u2019s do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

At UFC 327 in Miami, Trump personally\u00a0confirmed\u00a0the move to Rogan. \u201cIt\u2019s done. We\u2019re gonna take care of this. This is a good thing. It\u2019s a good thing for the soldiers, good thing for everybody,\u201d Rogan recounted.<\/p>\n

The order expedites FDA reviews, establishes safe-use protocols, opens Right to Try pathways, boosts data sharing with the VA, and funds expanded studies\u2014all focused on substances showing strong early results for treatment-resistant conditions.<\/p>\n

Trump framed the urgency clearly during the signing: \u201cSince 9\/11, we\u2019ve lost over 21x more veteran lives to suicide than on the battlefield\u2026 and today, we\u2019re bringing them new hope.\u201d He added that the policy would \u201censure that people suffering from debilitating\u00a0symptoms\u00a0might finally have a chance to reclaim their lives and lead a happier life. They\u2019ve been through so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogan echoed the significance at the event: \u201cFor 56 years we\u2019ve lived under those terrible conditions. We\u2019re free of that now. Thanks to all these people\u2026 and thanks to President Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ibogaine, in particular, has drawn attention from veterans\u2019 groups and researchers. Preliminary data, including from Stanford studies on special operations vets, points to dramatic reductions in PTSD\u00a0symptoms\u00a0and opioid dependency after treatment\u2014results that have driven desperate Americans to seek care\u00a0abroad\u00a0when blocked at home.<\/p>\n

Stewart\u2019s segment highlighted exactly that point: veterans who have exhausted conventional options now have a faster path to potentially life-changing therapies.<\/p>\n
