Trump for a job in his administration.<\/p>\n<p>After an amazing run of success during which he established Republican dominance in the Sunshine State, DeSantis will be forced to leave the governor\u2019s mansion due to term limits, with the future uncertain for a man who was once seen by many as presidential material.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/04\/21\/desantis-trump-administration-attorney-general\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by Marc Caputo of the left-leaning outlet Axios, Trump has told confidantes that the former rival has been \u201cbegging\u201d for a top spot in the administration, with the attorney general position of particular interest to the outgoing governor.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">At lunch April 12, DeSantis talked to Trump about an appointment or future job<\/p>\n<p>Trump told others DeSantis was \u201cbegging\u201d to be Atty General; others say that\u2019s unlikely but War Secretary or Supreme Court could be \u201cdream jobs\u201d after he\u2019s termed out<\/p>\n<p>Scoop<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/72x72\/1f447.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udc47\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UoonEDGMv6\">https:\/\/t.co\/UoonEDGMv6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Marc Caputo (@MarcACaputo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarcACaputo\/status\/2046644991888380294?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 21, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cRon was begging me to be AG,\u201d Trump reportedly told one unnamed confidant, \u201cwho relayed the remark to Axios,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>Pam Bondi was fired earlier this month. Her deputy, Todd Blanche, is currently serving as acting attorney general until the job is permanently filled.<\/p>\n<p>The two GOP leaders recently sat down to lunch with Axios reporting, \u201cDeSantis\u2019 future was on the menu after the two men had lunch at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami a week ago Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a conversation at that lunch. I don\u2019t think AG is real. But he\u2019s gonna be looking for work, and Trump likes him,\u201d one source who was not named said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeSantis also has expressed interest in being secretary of defense and even a spot on the U.S. Supreme Court, according to six sources briefed on the discussions,\u201d according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeSantis is 100% not interested in the AG job, but he would be interested in two things: War secretary or Supreme Court, which would be his dream job,\u201d another unnamed source told Axios, adding that iconic conservative Justice Clarence Thomas and DeSantis\u00a0\u201calmost have a father-son relationship and would be a hell of a legacy for Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pete Hegseth is currently heading up the Pentagon and is in good standing with the president as the Iran war drags on.<\/p>\n<p>The report notes that the governor \u201cwaged a bitter \u2014 but brief \u2014 primary bid\u201d against Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBygones are bygones,\u201d an unnamed Trump adviser is quoted as saying. \u201cBut that doesn\u2019t mean people forget.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a big reason the president wouldn\u2019t pick Ron to be his attorney general: There\u2019s a way-too-high chance he would try to f*ck the president over,\u201d another source said, adding, \u201cTrump needs someone at Justice he absolutely trusts. But the Defense Department or the Supreme Court or something else?
