Independent journalist Nick Shirley blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom as a \u201cfraud\u201d after he tried to take credit for \u201cleading\u201d the fight against scams in his state.<\/p>\n

The hero reporter who rocketed to fame after exposing rampant government benefits fraud in Minnesota has been the target of social media mockery by the California governor\u2019s press office after Shirley began to expose the fake hospice businesses in the Golden State. The young YouTuber called out \u201cGavin Newscam\u201d in a new post on Thursday after the Democrat tried to take a victory lap.<\/p>\n

\u201cCalifornia is again leading the charge against large-scale identity theft and hospice fraud,\u201d Newsom posted. \u201cToday, we\u2019re taking decisive action against 14 providers who tried using stolen identities to bill Medi-Cal for nonexistent hospice services.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Shirley quickly dropped a reality check on the 2028 presidential hopeful.<\/p>\n
