Rick Wilson linked to Dem op driving ‘military grade intel gathering’ on top Trump allies – like Elon Musk

A new scheme against the GOP turned to an old RINO with an eye on “military-grade intelligence-gathering” targeting supporters of the president-elect like Fox News and Elon Musk.

Wholly unsurprising after nearly a decade of hoaxes perpetuated against President-elect Donald Trump like Russian collusion, “fine people on both sides” and “suckers and losers,” controlling information and narratives remained a focus.

However, the returning commander-in-chief wasn’t alone in being targeted as Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson took on an advisory role aiming to “unearth unflattering revelations” about the world’s richest man and Fox Corporation’s controlling party, the Murdoch family.

Dubbed the Two Plus Two Coalition, the New York Times detailed how the group intended to “target the hidden sources of disinformation and expose them for what they are,” based on a donor prospectus.

“Democrats have a growing belief that their efforts must extend beyond the political sphere, trying to go on offense in a splintered media environment where conservatives have amassed more influence,” the report said as Trump-bashing corporate media outlets suffered major ratings collapses following Election Day. “One new liberal dark-money group began prospecting for donors with a pitch that it would unearth unflattering revelations about the Murdoch family and Elon Musk — both pro-Trump media magnates.”

Seeking minimum investments of $1 million, Wilson explained in an interview Thursday how the group would “operate as an opposition research firm but with a military-grade intelligence-gathering operation that went far beyond the document vetting typical of a political campaign.”

He said, “A lot of people in the center and on the left have for a long time sort of bemoaned Fox, but they haven’t done anything about it.”

Already, signs were evident of an information campaign against the incoming administration as Democratic Sens. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire and Jack Reed of Rhode Island called for investigations of Musk alleging unsavory ties to Russia.

At the same time, hyperbole over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination to head the Department of Health and Human Services had talking heads like PBS’ Margaret Hoover claiming “People will die” if he passes the Senate confirmation hearing.

“You cannot lie about vaccines and not have people believe it to some degree and then have real-life consequences,” she said on CNN. “People will die if this kind of spokesmanship is elevated to the chief health department of the United States of America. By the way, that’s not to mention the research that he’s going to defund for infectious disease and viruses, at least is what he has said.”

Concerns over dejection on the left found Democratic strategists like Arkadi Gerney and Sarah Knight setting new objectives after the vast majority of counties shifted to the right in 2024 as compared to the 2020 presidential election.

They contended that the second Trump administration “would be met with far less outrage from the public and more fatigue from Democratic voters. Those factors could leave liberal states playing an even more crucial role, they argued.”

Gerney said in an interview, “Emerging policy experts and political organizers who want to make a difference — don’t go to Washington. Join the people in Albany, Springfield, and Lansing who are working to not only defend against overreach by Trump but to aggressively make blue and purple states great places to work, live, and raise families.”

In response to the plan, Musk stated, “Weird.”
